چکیده

This paper summarizes the major findings from a nonresponse bias analysis of the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Kindergarten Class of 1998-99 (ECLS-K) first grade data. The analysis examines the potential for bias in estimates from the ECLS-K due to attrition (nonresponse) between the base year (rounds 1 and 2) and first grade (rounds 3 and 4). This work builds on a base year nonresponse bias analysis (Brick and Bose, 2001).

Estimating Variance of the Sample Mean in Two-phase Sampling with Unit Non-response Effect

In sample surveys, we always deal with two types of errors: Sampling error and non-sampling error. One of the most common non-sampling errors is nonresponse. This error happens when some sample units are not observed or viewed but they do not answer some of the questions. The complete prevention of this error is not possible, but it can be significantly reduced. The non-response causes bias and ...

Testing A New Attrition Nonresponse Adjustment Method For SIPP

1. Introduction While unit or questionnaire nonresponse can seriously degrade the quality of any survey, nonparticipation is particularly threatening to a longitudinal survey like the U.S. Census Bureau's Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP). To minimize the potential biasing effects of second and subsequent wave attrition from SIPP panels, staff at the Census Bureau perform weight...
